We've got the mud all figured out. After all the storms and rain, we found an acceptable route and heard no complaints about it being shorter than 40 miles, but more around 20-25. Some of the mud & rocks ate a few bikes, but hopefully they will recover. Hey, we even had a garden hose hooked up for everyone to rinse off with that good Florence 99.96% spring water!
Pulled pork sandwiches, chips, cole slaw & everyone's favorite beans awaited the riders at Grandview Park, along with cake for dessert.
It doesn't get any better than this, having Mother Nature allow us a break in the rain so we could have a good ride, even though a bunch of our friends hoping to ride the Tour this year were kept away by the storm warnings and uncertainty. We want to make it up to them next year and get back to the 40 miles of those Flint Hills we all love! Like I said, stay tuned!

The top 2 photos are from this year's "mud run"!
2008...new year, new route coming right up! We'd love to hear your thoughts, comments, ideas, experiences, any fond memories of the Tour so far. What are we up to, time for #5?? We'll be getting those brochures out soon, and post them for download on the Florence website.
Well, maybe I'm talking to myself here, but I must say we had a perfect day for the ride yesterday! I think everyone had a great time, and loved the food, including my baked beans with the secret herbs & spices I put into it every year. For a replay of the scenery, check it out at

It's going to be May 17, 2009.
Where is everybody?
Maybe I should talk about my beans...
